The Bridge Youth & Family Services sponsors a Christmas Hamper Campaign at this time each year. The hampers are distributed to families in need that attend our programs. It is amazing to witness the generosity of businesses and individuals who extend themselves at this busy time of year for others. The hampers put together are substantial and tailored to the specific needs of each family.
The staff in our agency sponsor several hampers as well. This year one of the staff at The Bridge Youth & Family Services was shopping at Wal-Mart for a considerable number of Christmas Hamper items. Standing in the checkout line she started to talk with a gentleman behind her. She explained what the purchases were for and that our agency does hampers each Christmas. When the items had been run through the till and before she could pay the gentleman said “I will get that” and paid for the items.
This story is an example of the generosity of Kelowna and it citizens and businesses. The support for children and families in our community is truly phenomenal. The Bridge Youth and Family Services Society, a non-profit, charitable organization, has been developing and providing innovative and quality programming for children, youth and families in the Central Okanagan of British Columbia since 1969. The Bridge is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and staffed by dedicated and caring individuals. Funding is received from provincial, federal and municipal governments, foundations, service clubs, businesses and individual donations.
The Bridge Youth and Family Services Society works to enhance the lives of all citizens of our community and is committed to service excellence. The Bridge is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Children and Families. We have implemented research and development as well as continuous quality improvement initiatives.
The Bridge continually strives to strengthen our connections to the community and those who use our services. We welcome stakeholder feedback and input. We work with other service agencies to streamline service delivery.
