Kids in Control is an educational group designed for children (7-11) who have a family member living with a mental health issue. Children enhance their understanding of mental health and/or substance misuse issues, and how these challenges affect them and their families.
During the eight week (1 hour) sessions, children are provided opportunities to strengthen interpersonal relationships, to increase problem solving skills, and to identify networks of support. Children also learn to anticipate and manage stressors of daily living and to cope with life transitions.
The group also provides a safe environment in which to gain a stronger understanding of self and others.
Families are encouraged to self refer, and to contact The Bridge Youth & Family Services Society for further information.
