Community Needs Assessment
In 2005 The Bridge Youth and Family Services developed and implemented a Community Needs Assessment Project to generate information that will enable the Society and other community agencies to enhance established programs and to develop new services and programs that are highly responsive, innovative and relevant to the needs of children, youth, and families in the Central Okanagan. Research assistance for the project was kindly funded through the Services Canada Summer Employment Program.
Survey
Surveys were distributed throughout the Central Okanagan. A total of 106 surveys were submitted by community members between the ages of 12 to 50+.
Youth
In Summer 2005 two research assistants conducted five focus groups and three interviews with a total of 29 youth between the ages of 13-24.
Parents
In Fall 2005 two focus groups and 11 interviews were conducted with a total of 19 parents who have children between the ages of 0-24 years, with a focus on parents with children over 7 years of age. (The CATCH Community Dialogue is currently conducting a needs assessment for parents with children ages 0-6).
