Community Support: Holiday Cheer
Jan 07, 2022

This holiday season we are filled with gratitude thanks to the outpouring of community support for our programs and participants. From putting together gift bags to parades, to donations and so much more, we wanted to celebrate all of you!

More than 400 Holiday Gift Bags were filled and will be distributed to our participants thanks to so many individuals, businesses, and organizations this year. Babies, children, and adults in our Family Programs, youth who participate in Etcetera, Youth Recovery House, Youth Outreach, Youth Transitions or Foster Homes, as well as all the adults with our Recovery & Addictions Services, will all be receiving a little something special just in time for the holidays. Thank you for making this holiday season a bit brighter for so many.

Hillberg and Berk and The Jilly Box donated 150 pairs of the Jilly Sparkle Ball earrings from the Winter 2021 Jilly Box to include in our adult holiday gift bags this season! These gift bags are for the parents and caregivers that access our Early Years programs who so often put themselves last to give their children the best holiday season. If you aren’t aware of these two female-owned and operated companies, Hillberg and Berk is a Canadian jewellery company dedicated to empowering women across the globe. The Jilly Box is a lifestyle box curated by local Okanagan influencer Jillian Harris.

These holiday gift bags are our way of saying, YOU deserve to be treated and spoiled, we are proud of you, and you are cared for. For over 15 years, we have been celebrating the holidays with the families in our community, however, due to gathering restrictions our usual holiday celebrations were cancelled, but the gift bags were the one tradition that we were able to continue to do. We want to thank Hillberg and Berk and The Jilly Box from the bottom of our hearts for their generous donation.

Valley Guardians helped us put together amazing backpacks full of fun and comfort for the youth in our programs for the second year in a row!

Choices Markets is hosting its annual Star of the Season campaign in support of local charities. Until December 24th  you can make a donation by purchasing a star from the cashier during your next grocery trip. Choices Markets has been supporting us during the holiday season for over 15 years!

The Kelowna Shoebox Project dropped off 15 boxes filled with goodies for participants thanks to community donations. This is the Shoebox Project’s first year in the Okanagan and we are grateful to Marika Soleil for making it all happen.

The Payton Bischoff Variety Show kicked off December with two sold-out shows in support of The Bridge and Life After Laundry ladies Club. Young, local talent got together to create something magical for the holidays and it was an absolute hit! We’re still waiting on the final total, but we know it’s going to be fantastic.

Life After Laundry Ladies Club hosts a Christmas Cheer Bag project every year to put together gift bags for participants in our Recovery & Addiction Services and this year they donated 43 bags! The Santa Claus Parade was a huge success thanks to everyone who entered a float and came out to enjoy the festivities! A special thank you to event sponsors, Boyd Autobody & Glass, Calowna Costume, CSD Mechanical, Kelowna Fire Department, Kelowna RCMP, Kettle Valley Fitness, Kettle Valley Public on Main, LORA+CHRISTY Real Estate Team, Shack Shine Okanagan, Stone Sisters, Total Home Solutions, Total Restoration, Velo Volt, and Village of Kettle Valley who helped make the December 11th parade possible. So far the parade has raised more than $13,000 and the donations are still coming in! Donate today.

Stober Foundation donated $1,000 a day for ten days to local charities in a special Instagram challenge and The Bridge was the lucky recipient on day three. Thank you to the Stober Foundation for also helping us kick off GivingTuesday and our Phase II campaign… Read all about it!

Valley First/Simple Generosity donated funds for holiday décor and gifts for the young people that will be in the Youth Recovery House for Christmas. Their celebration is sure to be extra special because of this support.

Thank you to all of the individuals and organizations for going above and beyond this holiday season! Whether you bought a ticket, made a donation, or shared a post to get the word out - you helped make a difference. Happy Holidays from our team to you!
